Logar Holding officially started operating in the fields of export and import of petroleum products and industrial waste recycling centers in 2020.

Until a few years ago, Iraq was known as a lead importer, but in recent years, with the establishment of the battery recycling industry, not only has it moved away from imports, but the country has also moved towards exporting lead. In this way, this new industry, in addition to expanding its share of foreign exchange earnings to accelerate Iraq’s transition from a single-product economy and oil sales, is also a major step in environmental protection. Used batteries, which were considered dangerous waste until a few years ago, now provide employment opportunities and save nature from such recycling with the growth of battery lead recycling companies. Logar Company took the first step to enter the lead recycling field in 2020 and defined its initial goal as establishing a factory to recycle lead from used batteries. However, although the initial goal was to establish a recycling factory, at the very beginning, by identifying the market need, this industrial unit went beyond its initial goal to ultimately achieve its ultimate goal of recycling 21,500 tons of lead per year and employing more than 250 people.
